Water Security Specialist - Sustainable Water Partnership

Tetra Tech International Development Services based in Arlington, Virginia is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified water security specialists with expertise in water resources management and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) to support management and implementation of existing water-related programming with USAID. The Water Security Specialist will provide technical and managerial leadership for activities that help build resilience to water security risks at the basin, sub-basin or local catchment scale. Candidates must demonstrate strong understanding of water security concepts, with experience working managing and implementing USAID-funded programs.

Responsibilities:

* Provide thought leadership and technical expertise on key issues related to water security concepts, methods and programming.

* Provide technical and management support for ongoing and future field-based activities related to water security program design, planning, and implementation.

* Lead and/or support development of analytical products (guidance manuals, research papers, toolkits, etc.) on water security approaches and issues and their integration with other sectors.

* Raise awareness with USAID, host country governments, and stakeholders on water security through participation in regular presentations, conferences and meetings.

* Actively develop partnerships with private sector and civil society to strengthen capacity of institutions and augment the overall impact and sustainability of activities.

Qualifications:

* Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, PhD preferred.

* Ten years of experience in the delivery of water-sector programming in developing countries.

* Five years of experience in a management capacity overseeing water-related program delivery.

* Technical expertise and experience related to water resources management, WASH and/or climate change adaptation is required.

* Demonstrated understanding of water security concepts and approaches.

* Experience developing written communications such as scientific articles and presentations related to water security, climate change, IWRM, and/or WASH.

* Experience managing and implementing USAID-funded programs.

* Experience in managing partnerships and/or engagement processes involving diverse stakeholders is highly preferred.

* Experience with integrated programs involving multiple objectives, including those related to gender, natural resources management, WASH, food security, and/or livelihoods, is highly preferred.

* Proficiency in French or Spanish speaking, reading and writing.

* Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
