Data, Analytics, and Technology Staff Associate (US-based remote)

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a Data, Analytics, and Technology (DAT) Staff Associate for our Digital Strategy team. This position will be based in Burlington, Vermont, or Arlington, Virginia with consideration of other remote US-based locations. 

 

The DAT Staff Associate will play a role in implementing Tetra Tech’s Digital Strategy, focusing on creating innovative, demand-driven digital development and data analytics solutions to complex international development challenges. TT’s digital strategy focuses on driving industry-leading digital innovation to maximize the internal business, knowledge management, and client delivery required to achieve TT’s mission to advance the sustainable development of communities and nations through the provision of high-quality technical, advisory, and support services.

 

The DAT Staff Associate will bring concrete skills in areas such as data science, AI/ML, statistics, GIS, remote sensing, project management, and international development. The successful candidate will participate in multiple digital transformation activities to facilitate the organization’s data and analytics delivery and growth. Please note that this position is contingent upon contract award decisions.

 

Responsibilities:

* Supports the development of advanced data and analytics solutions and the development of analytical services across sectors and technical areas (e.g. environment, agriculture, water resources, land tenure, governance);

* Support and build an internal network of stakeholders interested in digital development;

* Design data visualizations for dashboards and reporting;

* Develop thematic maps and spatial analytics to meet end-user needs; 

* Contribute to developing platforms, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and guidance related to data governance and responsible data management and use;

* Support the delivery of data literacy education materials and training, particularly data management and cleaning; and

* Perform other relevant duties as identified by the Digital Strategy team. 

 

Qualifications: 

* Master’s degree in data science, GIS, or related field; or bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years of experience working in a relevant data science field professional services firm or similar organization;

* Experience with one or more relevant programming languages and associated tools (R, Python, Java, Jupyter Notebooks, Github) required;

* Experience with the GIS (ESRI suite - ArcGIS Pro, Online, QGIS, Google Earth Engine) preferred; 

* Experience with data visualization software and creating dashboards (R Shiny, Power BI or Tableau) preferred; 

* One or more years of relevant experience in a developing country is desired (service in a volunteer program is considered relevant);

* Demonstrated experience working with datasets and familiarity with data management best practices required; 

* Familiarity with mobile data collection tools, ICT4D, or Principles for Digital Development;  

* Ability to work in multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural teams in the Home Office and the field with strong ability to convey analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences in writing and presentations;

* Strong analytical skills, ability to think big picture strategy and navigate details to ensure accuracy; 

* Clear and effective communications skills, especially across cultures and hierarchies absolutely required;  

* Consistently strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through required;  

* Strong interpersonal skills, energy, and an enthusiastic collaborator; 

* Ability to remain poised and focused in a fast-paced environment; and 

* U.S. work authorization required.
