Temporary Editor (US-based Remote)

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a Temporary Editor. This position is preferably based in Burlington, VT or Arlington, VA with consideration of remote-work from US-based locations.

 

Position Description: Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief and/or the Production Unit Director, the Temporary Editor will provide surge capacity support to the Production Team to assist with end-of-fiscal year deliverables, new project startups, and end-of-year project closures as well as the team’s usual workload. The assignment will be completed between May 1 and October 31, 2023.

 

Responsibilities:

*Edit reports coordinated through the Editor in Chief or Project/Proposal Management Team (quarterly and annual reports, annual work plans, annual MEL plans, project startup documents [e.g., communications plans, branding plans, etc.], other project reports, and project closeout deliverables [e.g., final reports];

*Provide formatting and general document and multimedia production following an existing set of preferences, styles, and design templates;

*Edit for organization, content, accuracy, consistency, and style. Exercise good judgment in assessing the level of edit a document requires;

*Collaborate with technical staff on the development and production of USAID and other donor reports, case studies, and/or multimedia products from inception to distribution;

*Support Lead Editors and proposal teams from request for proposal (RFP) release to contract award and help develop a competitive bid; and

*This is a mid-level position, where the editor can step in and edit and format according to the required style guide with ease.

 

Qualifications:

*Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field;

*At least 5 years of professional experience in an editing or technical writing position;

*Excellent editing and proofreading skills with knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style, and strong verbal communication skills are critical;

*Proficiency in Spanish or French is desirable;

*Must be able to work nights or weekends when required;

*Must be able to engage with teams; Tetra Tech is a highly collaborative environment;

*Must be proactive;

*Experience with USAID or USG reports/proposals preferred;

*US work authorization required.
