Democracy and Governance Senior Associate (US-Based Remote)

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a Democracy and Governance Senior Associate position. This position will be based in the Tetra Tech International Development Burlington, VT or Arlington, VA office with consideration of remote, US-based locations.

 

Responsibilities:

* Manage and oversee all aspects of democracy and governance-related projects, from start-up to close-out;

* Provide technical direction to democracy and governance projects and teams, around the world;

* Design, manage and write new concepts and proposals on democracy and governance;

* Develop thought leadership on priority democracy and governance topics such as crime and violence prevention, public financial management, justice and security, accountability, and local governance;

* Develop corporate strategies for technical excellence in democracy and governance topics;

* Supervise and mentor staff;

* Cultivate networks with donors and other organizations.

 

Qualifications:
* Master’s, JD, or PhD in a technical discipline related to democracy and governance;
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in democracy and governance, including among other topics, local governance and decentralization, anticorruption, transparency and accountability, citizen engagement, public financial management, and/or crime and violence prevention;

* Prior successful experience writing complex technical proposals required;

* Demonstrated thought-leadership and contributions in democracy and governance required;
* At least 10 years of experience in international development with various donors, including USAID;

* Experience working for, or collaborating with, partners in private sector, academia, research institutions, and government ministries and agencies;

* Experience managing and supervising large, complex DG projects in developing countries preferred;

* Speaking and reading proficiency in a foreign language preferred.
* Position requires regular international travel (roughly 20%-30%), including potential travel to conflict-affected countries;

* Outstanding oral, written communications and presentation skills;
* Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure on multiple concurrent projects;
* Demonstrated detail orientation and exceptionally high levels of organization;
* Highly proficient in MS Office applications;
* U.S. work authorization required.
