Deputy Chief of Party for Kilimo Tija

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) position on an anticipated USAID-funded agriculture program in Tanzania.

 

Working under the overall direction of the Chief of Party (COP) and in coordination with project technical staff and external partners, the DCOP will ensure the timely and effective delivery of project activities and results. They will provide technical leadership for one or more project components, support the COP in project management and donor relations, and serve as the technical and program point of contact in the absence of the COP. This is anticipated to be a full-time position based in Tanzania for five years.

 

Responsibilities:

*Working under the overall direction of the Chief of Party (COP) and in coordination with project technical staff and external partners, ensure the timely and effective delivery of project activities and results.

*Provide technical leadership for one or more project components; support the COP in project management and donor relations, and serve as the technical and program point of contact in the absence of the COP.

*Provide key contributions to annual work planning and periodic technical review meetings to identify successes and to learn from and adapt to contextual challenges.

*Provide overall quality assurance of team members’ work, promoting operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and impact.

*Contribute to performance reports, technical deliverables, and presentations through review and analysis of activity monitoring data, aggregation and synthesis of team inputs, and stakeholder feedback.

 

 

Qualifications:

*Minimum 10 years’ experience in the horticulture sector working for private enterprise, government, civil society, and/or donor initiatives that address constraints, challenges, and opportunities facing the agriculture sector.
*Experience leading activities for donor-funded projects and managing stakeholder relationships. USAID experience preferred. 
*Experience managing teams of at least 5 people.
*Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, finance, economic, business administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

*Demonstrated ability to engage in multi-stakeholder dialogue, including sustaining partnerships and strong working relationships with donors, host country government counterparts, academic institutions, and civil society;

*Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and communicate his/her vision to partners and colleagues;

*Proven experience navigating complex and high-pressure operating environments;

*Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.

*Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills and personnel and team management skills.
