Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist - Climate Adaptation Support Activity

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist position on a potential USAID-funded program in Washington DC.  

 

The USAID Climate Adaptation Support Activity will be a five-year project based in Washington DC. The purpose of the activity is to support impactful adaptation across USAID by providing strategic support to USAID Missions and USAID/Washington Operating Units. The Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist will provide technical advice and support to design and implement gender and social inclusion activities. The Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist will integrate gender concerns, perspectives and issues, and ensures compliance with USAID gender policies, frameworks, and best practices are applied throughout project activities. This is a five-year fixed-term appointment with benefits, contingent upon contract award.

 

Responsibilities: 

* Serves as the expert professional and technical advisor responsible for leading and monitoring the integration of gender, youth, and vulnerable populations concerns in programming
* Provides analytical and programmatic guidance to project team to promote an equitable impact of all investments 
* Assumes a lead role in articulating and advocating the strategic importance of gender issues and promoting these concepts in climate adaptation programming  
* Ensures that USAID gender policies, frameworks, and best practices are applied throughout the Activity 
* Reviews Activity scopes of work, training programs, deliverables, and other written materials to ensure that gender and women’s economic empowerment are well-integrated 

* Supports Activity monitoring and evaluation to ensure it is gender-responsive and includes indicators aimed at capturing the Activity’s gender and women’s empowerment related outputs and outcomes

 

Qualifications: 

* Bachelor’s degree or higher in sociology, gender studies, international development, or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.  
* Minimum of 6 years of implementing gender and social inclusion programs. Familiar with USAID gender and women’s empowerment approaches and global best practices preferred 
* Experience in climate change adaptation is preferred. 
* Professional proficiency in English is required 

* Ability to travel internationally

* U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory.
