Senior Technical Specialists – Protibesh Activity

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, VA, is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for senior technical specialist positions on a USAID funded program in Bangladesh. The purpose of the activity is to advance co-management strategies to enable local communities to more effectively manage natural resources, safeguard critical ecosystems and biodiversity, and integrate ecosystem-based management into an environmental governance framework.  The Activity will collaborate with and engage national government and local partners (government and non-government) in the effective management, protection and governance of critical forest and aquatic systems while advancing economic incentives to further biodiversity conservation targeting communities in regions with key biodiversity areas such as the Khulna Division with the Sundarbans Reserve Forest, the ecologically critical forest and wetland zones of northeastern Bangladesh in the Sylhet Division, and the forest and coastal zones in the Chittagong Division (excluding the Chittagong Hill Tracts).

 

Natural Resource Management Specialist: to provide technical and managerial oversight in the development and implementation of strategies to improve the conservation and management of forests, freshwater and coastal ecosystems.

* 7+ years’ experience designing and implementing natural resource conservation and management activities in Bangladesh including working with communities and the public sector to design and implement sustainable natural resource conservation and management solutions.

* Master’s, or a Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience, in a relevant discipline; forest conservation, water resource and/or watershed management, coastal zone management.

* Excellent communication skills in English.

 

Conservation Finance Specialist: to work with stakeholders to improve financial investment in support of achieving national and local conservation goals (conservation investment leverage and planning).    

* 7+ years’ experience working with stakeholders, at international, national and local levels, to plan, analyze, leverage and manage financial investments and/or other economic incentives in support of the conservation goals of national, regional, and local protected areas; successful experience leveraging a variety of funding sources from international donors, private sector and other private investors, payment for ecosystem services, royalties and public revenue.

* Master’s, or a Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience, in relevant discipline.

* Excellent communication skills in English.

 

Biodiversity Conservation Specialist: to provide technical and managerial oversight to the project activities related to biodiversity conservation and protection of the ecosystems of the Sundarbans, the forests and wetlands of northeastern Bangladesh, and the forests and coastal zones in the Chittagong Division.

* 7+ years’ experience working in biodiversity conservation including working with stakeholders to establish, manage and monitor protected areas and biological corridors.

* Master’s, or a Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience, in relevant discipline; biodiversity and ecology of Sundarbans and southeastern coastal, northeastern and southeastern forest and freshwater ecosystems.

* Excellent communication skills in English.

 

Protected Area Management Specialist: to provide technical and managerial oversight to partners and stakeholders in the development, implementation and monitoring of protected areas at the national and local levels.

* 7+ years’ experience working with stakeholders, at national and local levels, to establish, manage and monitor protected areas; experience with the establishment of protected areas and management plan development and implementation.

* Master’s, or a Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience, in relevant discipline.

* Excellent communication skills in English.

 

Sustainable Livelihoods Specialist: to provide technical and managerial oversight in the development and implementation of strategies to increase market-based economic opportunities in the priority ecosystems (the Sundarbans, the forests and wetlands of northeastern Bangladesh, and the forests and coastal zones in the Chittagong Division) for the most vulnerable populations. 

* 7+ years’ experience designing and implementing rural natural resource-based sustainable livelihoods programs, with communities living within the priority ecosystems.

* Experience understanding and improving the socio-economic circumstances of vulnerable populations living within the priority ecosystems.

* Master’s, or a Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience, in relevant discipline; assessing and addressing climate risk and the implementation of economic empowerment strategies for vulnerable populations, micro-enterprise and value chain development to the benefit of vulnerable populations.

* Excellent communication skills in English.

 

Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist: to generate, capture and communicate knowledge and promote learning to further the activity’s objectives.

* 7+ years’ experience working with institutions, nationally and sub-nationally, to generate, document and communicate knowledge (evidence-based monitoring information, best practices, innovative models and lessons-learned).

* Experience developing information and knowledge management methods/tools in one or more technical disciplines such as natural resource management, water security, biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and/or forestry conservation preferred.

* Master’s, or a Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience, in relevant discipline.

* Excellent communication skills in English.
