Agriculture and Economic Growth Associate (US-based Remote)

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for an Associate for Agriculture and Economic Growth. This position will be based in Burlington, Vermont, or Arlington, Virginia with consideration of other remote US-based locations. 

 

The Associate is a member of the operations staff, working in a sector; in this capacity, the Associate will be assigned duties by the Sector Director, or designee, in the areas of project management, business development, and providing technical assistance. Associates are assigned to proposal and project teams in various roles such as Proposal Manager, Lead Technical Writer, Project Manager, and Deputy Project Manager, among others. Associates are expected to be highly motivated, demonstrate strong self-discipline, and work with minimal supervision. An Associate is expected to engage in and support the dynamics of Tetra Tech business through teamwork and demonstrate initiative and flexibility in their engagements. Therefore, they are expected to work closely and cooperatively with other personnel of the firm to achieve corporate goals.

 

Responsibilities:

* Supports development and/or develops all aspects of proposals, conducts positioning and marketing, directs, and leads client interaction, and maintains networks in the industry;

* Manages and oversees all aspects of a project, from start-up to close- out, either as Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager;

* Provides excellence and innovation in technical service areas, including mentoring less experienced staff;

* Travel regularly to provide technical assistance to projects, and to provide management and training support to project field staff,

* Takes responsibility and actively works for their own professional development while also contributing to broader objectives of the company; and

* Actively supports AEG's efforts to develop and implement its thought leadership and positioning strategy, by conducting research, drafting technical communications (e.g., blogs), supporting the development of guidelines and tools, etc.

 

Qualifications:

* Master’s degree in agriculture, economic development, business management, or related field required;

* 5 years of experience working in a relevant data science field, professional services firm, or similar organization;

* 2 years of project management experience in technical assistance programming in developing and transitioning countries;

* Strong knowledge of international donor projects and/or USAID-funded projects preferred;

* Ability to work in multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural teams in the Home Office and the field with strong ability to convey analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences in writing and presentations;

* Speaking and reading proficiency in at least one foreign language preferred (Spanish or French an advantage);

* Availability for 30-40% international travel to developing, transitioning, and post-conflict countries (subject to COVID19 travel restrictions);

* Strong computer skills in MS Office and strong familiarity with databases; and

* U.S. work authorization required.
