Part-time Accountant for Community Engagement Services for the MCC Solomon Islands Threshold Program

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest for a part-time Accountant/Bookkeeper position for an anticipated MCC-funded project in the Solomon Islands. This role will be part-time (50%) and based in the Solomon Islands.

 

Position Description/Summary:

The anticipated Accessing Land for Tourism Investment Facilitation (ALTIF) project seeks to build the government’s capacity to identify registered land parcels that have a high potential to attract tourism investment, assist investors to obtain secure access to registered land with landowners and neighboring communities (via social license), and facilitate investments on that land by outside tourism investors.

 

Tetra Tech is recruiting candidates for the “community-facing” aspects of the overall project, namely engaging with communities adjacent to the planned investments to: ensure their genuine consent to the planned investment; assist in resolving any actual or potential land rights disputes in connection with the planned tourism investment; assist in negotiating potential benefit-sharing; support community governance; and support capacity building and job training to take advantage of opportunities arising from the planned tourism investment.

 

The candidate will serve as the part-time Accountant/bookkeeper position, based in the Solomon Islands. The Accountant/bookkeeper position will support the Operations Manager in handling the financial and administrative aspects of the project. This is a 50% part-time position.

 

Responsibilities: 

* Responsible for supporting day-to-day financial project administration, including recording all expenditures per company policy and accounting platforms, carrying out financial oversight, preparing financial projections, and making payments to vendors and subcontractors.

* Determine the correct payroll withholding

* Prepared and submit required tax documents

* Support budget planning, financial reporting, and financial audits.

* Manage administrative and logistical tasks as needed.

* Support logistical planning for travel and mobilization of project staff and associated stakeholders to support program activities and initiatives.

  

Qualifications: 

* University degree (or equivalent) in accounting or relevant experience.

* Financial management and budgeting experience

* Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff.

* Excellent organization and time management skills.

* Fluency in English and Solomon Islands Pijin required.
