Chief of Party for Red Sea Initiative Activity

Tetra Tech International Development Services is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Chief of Party (COP) position for an upcoming USAID-funded, Red Sea Initiative Activity in Egypt. The Activity is anticipated to institutionalize and expand sustainable tourism growth to conserve natural resources in the Red Sea. The Activity will work to fulfill this purpose through three complementary objectives: 1) local communities derive sustained benefits from green growth and conservation, 2) the Red Sea is effectively managed consistent with international standards for sustainability, and 3) investment in sustainable tourism is increased.

 

The COP will be the primary liaison with USAID/Egypt on all technical and administrative matters and must adjust programs and operations as needed. The COP must coordinate and ultimately be responsible for all award management and implementation tasks. Additionally, the COP will be responsible for responding to the USAID Contracting Officer, the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), USAID/Egypt Activity Manager(s), and the Tetra Tech Home Office. This is expected to be a long-term position based in Hurghada.

 

Responsibilities:

*Act as primary liaison with USAID

*Ensure quality control and overall responsiveness of technical assistance provided under the award;

*Ensure that the activity is fully staffed, and its structure and performance is able to deliver high-quality workplans, technical and financial reports, and all other deliverables as per the Contract;

*Supervise staff, subcontractors, short and long terms consultants, and other technical assistance involved in implementation of the Activity;

*Ensure compliance with all USAID and Tetra Tech rules and regulations;

*Communicate/work with key stakeholders at national and local levels.

 

Qualifications:

*Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline such Marine Biology, Tourism Management, Biodiversity or Natural Management, Climate Change or another related field;

*A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in international development work managing all integrated aspects of complex programs of similar scale;

*A minimum of eight (8) years of supervisory experience in building and effectively supervising a diverse team;

*Prior experience working on development programs in Egypt or within Middle East and Northern Africa context required;

*Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, proactiveness, creative problem-solving, and ethical management skills;

*Excellent oral and written communication skills;

*Full professional proficiency in English and Arabic- Level IV Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale;

*Egyptian nationals strongly encouraged to apply.
