Market Systems Organization Team Leader for Kilimo Tija

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Market Systems Organization Team Leader position on an anticipated USAID-funded agriculture program in Tanzania.

 

Responsibilities:

*Provide technical and operations leadership to project activities that aim to strengthen the horticulture market system to increase enterprise and employment opportunities

*Manage a team of 10+ staff focused on enabling firms and other value chain and market systems actors to: expand use of business development services and improve business skills;  improve post-harvest handling, aggregation, value addition, and use of grades and standards; develop trust and transparency; access finance, insurance, and information; and increase participation of youth.

*Provide key contributions to annual work planning and periodic technical review meetings to identify successes and to learn from and adapt to contextual challenges.

*Provide overall quality assurance of team members’ work, promoting operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and impact.

*Develop and expand project’s network of value chain actors and other stakeholders and promote commercial and service or member-oriented relationships among them.

*Contribute to performance reports, technical deliverables, and presentations through review and analysis of activity monitoring data, aggregation and synthesis of team inputs, and stakeholder feedback.

*Facilitate conferences, workshops, and other events to share learning among the agriculture sector and international development community.

 

Qualifications:

*Minimum 7 years’ experience in the horticulture sector working for private enterprise, government, civil society, and/or donor initiatives that address constraints, challenges, and opportunities facing the sector and increasing the economic participation of youth by addressing behaviors, challenges, or risks that exclude them or limit their participation.

*Knowledge of lead firms, associations, and other institutions that comprise Tanzania’s horticulture sector, as well as the financial and business development services that support them.

*Experience managing teams of at least 5 people.

*Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, finance, economic, business administration, or related field.

*Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills and personnel and team management skills.
