Deputy Chief of Party Technical - Climate Adaptation Support Activity

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Deputy Chief of Party, Technical position on a potential USAID-funded program in Washington DC.   

 

The USAID Climate Adaptation Support Activity will be a five-year project based in Washington DC. The purpose of the activity is to support impactful adaptation across USAID by providing strategic support to USAID Missions and USAID/Washington Operating Units. In coordination with the COP, the DCOP- Technical will manage overall technical implementation of the Activity and ensure product and service provision to USAID Missions, Washington, and partners to support adaptation mainstreaming, programming, and scaling to effect change at meaningful scales. This is a five-year fixed-term appointment with benefits, contingent upon contract award.

 

Responsibilities: 

* Oversee planning, coordination, and day to day implementation of technical activities in partnership with technical team members and the COP;

* Provide technical expertise and support annual activity work planning and adaptive management of Activity as needed in accordance with Activity objectives and targets;

* Assist in coordinating Activity implementation, providing support to personnel and subcontractor management, and efficient budgeting and financial management, as needed;

* Oversee technical activities and ensure interventions align with targets as set in the monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) plan;

* Ensure compliance with USAID rules and regulations;

 

Qualifications: 

* Master’s degree in environmental studies, environmental economics, natural resources management, international development, public administration, or another relevant field;

* Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible professional experience leading multi-country donor-supported programs, with extensive experience on USAID-funded projects;

* At least 8 years of experience in climate services, climate change adaptation, capacity strengthening, food and agriculture, disaster risk reduction, or other relevant technical experience;

* Demonstrated technical knowledge in climate services, and strong networking capability with government, private sector and/or non-government entities; 

* Professional proficiency in English is required;

* Ability to travel internationally

* U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory.
