Water Engineer – Mali ANKA JIKO Activity

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for Water Engineer on an anticipated five-year USAID-funded project in Mali. The goal of this Activity is to improve the quality and sustainability of rural water and sanitation services by building the capacity of key stakeholders in rural Malian communities to construct, maintain, and sustainably manage safe and reliable water systems, as well as to plan and implement Commune-level Sanitation Strategic Plans in the Sikasso, Bougouni and Koutiala Regions. This position will be full-time and based in Mali.

 

Responsibilities:

The Water Engineers will help design, supervise, coordinate and monitor field-level water and sanitation activities. They will provide reliable technical civil engineering support, including design and construction management, to water supply projects. They will work with local drillers, pump manufacturers and installers to provide new waterpoints for rural areas and small towns. They will be responsible for tender preparation including technical specification documents, bill of quantities, and final tender packages, as well as construction management of contracted infrastructure development. They will also support targeted institutions and organizations such as Communes with capacity building and skill transfer. The Water Engineer will also advise on water service delivery, ensure compliance to quality standards for field work and support analyses, cost recovery and basic metrics of service delivery performance such as non-revenue water (NRW). S/he may also train and organize local communities to manage water services.

 

Qualifications:

* Advanced degree in engineering, hydrology, or another related field.

* At least seven (7) years of experience working in the water sector especially in rural water supply in Mali.

* At least two (2) years of experience in a specialized water sector such as drinking water, productive water use, water treatment or other relevant areas, is preferred

* Experience working on donor-funded projects preferred.

* Fluency in written and spoken French is required; proficiency in English and Bambara, other local languages is preferred.

* Malian nationals strongly encouraged to apply.
