Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion Specialist - Mali ANKA JIKO Activity

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusion Specialist position on a USAID-funded program in Mali.

 

The anticipated Mali ANKA JIKO Activity will improve the quality and sustainability of rural water and sanitation services by building the capacity of key stakeholders in rural Malian communities to construct, maintain, and sustainably manage safe and reliable water systems, as well as to plan and implement Commune-level Sanitation Strategic Plans in the Sikasso, Bougouni and Koutiala Regions.

 

The Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusion (GYSI) Specialist will implement the program’s gender approach and advise the project team on GYSI strategies. This is a long-term position based in Bamako, Mali.

 

Responsibilities:

* Provide technical leadership on GYSI approaches and support project staff to build and integrate GYSI practices into WASH programming, including conducting gender analyses, designing gender-sensitive activities, and using gender-sensitive monitoring practices

* Support training and capacity building of government entities and women- and youth-focused organizations to ensure the implementation of policies promoting the participation of women, youth, and other vulnerable populations in local decision-making processes.

* Contribute to the development of key policies, standards, and guidelines for WASH, ensuring the incorporation of gender and youth interests.

* Design and implement activities to increase women and youth leadership within the WASH sector

* Identify partnering opportunities with organizations led by women and young entrepreneurs through grants or other mechanisms.

* Actively support the COP in preparing annual workplans, quarterly progress reports, and all other major project deliverables.

* Contribute to ensuring the quality of project outputs and provide technical guidance to related field interventions, including regular visits to project sites to provide technical assistance, and ensure proper implementation and monitoring of project activities.

 

Qualifications:

* Degree in social studies, women’s studies, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

* At least five (5) years of development experience with a proven track record of integrating gender equality outcomes in program implementation and design.

* At least two (2) years integrating GYSI principles in Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects preferred.

* Fluency in written and spoken French is required; proficiency in English and local languages is preferred.

* Malian nationals strongly encouraged to apply
