Trilingual translator-interpreter (Sango, French and English) – Support for the Professionalization of Mining Cooperatives (APCM)

The Support for the Professionalization of Mining Cooperatives (APCM) project funded by USAID in the Central African Republic (CAR) and implemented by Tetra Tech International Development currently accepts expressions of interest for a trilingual Translator-Interpreter (Sango, French and English). This short-term position will be based in the office in Bangui.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Support Project for the Professionalization of Mining Cooperatives (APCM) in the Central African Republic is a project financed by the World Bank through the Natural Resources Governance Project (PGRN). It is implemented for a period of two years (since September 2019) by Tetra Tech. The project is looking for community mobilizers who can work in villages around Nola and boganangone.

 

The APCM project is looking for a trilingual translator-interpreter (Sango, French and English) for some small missions in Bangui and the south-west region of CAR according to the following terms of reference:

 

Responsibilities: 

*Accurately and fluidly transcribe conversations or text from Sango/French in English and vice versa for a fixed period.

 

qualifications:

Translator-performer will have to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

* Excellent passive understanding of Sango, French and English;

* Ability to interpret and translate faithfully into grammatically correct French and English;

* Ability to construct complete sentences in Sango, French and English;

* Accuracy in the choice of style and register;

* Ability to adapt to the speed of speech of the speakers;

* Ability to convey a sometimes redundant message concisely;

* Mastery in the face of a dense and complex discourse;

* Ability to travel in the hinterland and stay in hostile environments with limited comfort.

* Good speech and quality of speech.
