Team Leader for Aral Sea Assessment and Action Plan - USAID Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity (WAVE) (Remote)

The USAID-funded Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity based in Almaty, Kazakhstan and working in all five Central Asian countries, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development, is currently accepting expressions of interest for a Team Leader for the three-month Aral Sea Assessment and Action Plan . The Team Leader will work virtually from their home office with a small team of local experts to design, implement and present the Assessment and Action Plan.

 

Major Tasks:

*Work with the Team to develop research methodology, work plan, and report outline. 

*Lead the development and implementation of the environmental remediation component of the research and report.

*Lead the integration, analysis, and presentation of Assessment findings.

*Facilitate a process of participatory analysis, selection and ranking of options based on the Assessment findings.

*Lead the development, production, and presentation of the Assessment report including key findings, analysis, and options analysis.

*Work with the Team to produce the Action Plan. 


Qualifications:

*Advanced degree in agroecology, forestry, natural resource conservation, climate change adaptation, or another relevant field.

*Minimum ten (10) years’ experience successfully leading teams of experts to design, implement and present research and working with development practitioners to apply the research to address complex development issues.  The ideal candidate would have conducted applied research related to environmental remediation and socio-economic development in arid and saline conditions such as exist in the Aral Sea basin.

*Demonstrated strong interpersonal and team coordination skills, and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

*Professional fluency in written and spoken English. Fluency in Russian is a plus.

*CA ARDc
