Regulatory Advisor - Zambia Alternatives to Charcoal

The USAID-funded Alternatives to Charcoal (A2C) Activity in Zambia, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest for the position of Regulatory Advisor. This position will be located in the main office in Lusaka. The purpose of USAID A2C is to reduce charcoal energy consumption in Zambia and catalyze an increase in the use of private sector-led low emissions charcoal alternative technologies and/or fuels in order to reduce deforestation directly attributed to charcoal production.

 

The Regulatory Advisor participates in regulatory reviews related to alternative technologies and fuels (ATF) to advance the objectives of the A2C Activity. She/he will contribute to research on ATF regulations and advise ATF enterprises and other private sector actors on regulatory requirements and changes. S/he will collaborate with relevant Government of Zambia (GRZ) institutions and coordinate private sector and other stakeholder input into the development and/or revisions of ATF regulations. S/he will support the ATF Policy Advisor, as needed, for coordination with GRZ and other projects and donors working on A2C-related issues

The Regulatory Advisor reports directly to the ATF Policy Advisor.

 

Qualifications:

* Master’s degree or higher in relevant field.

* A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in the energy sector.

* Proven track record of collaborating with GRZ officials and private sector partners.

* Ability to produce high quality written products including reports, regulation analyses and assessments.

* Must be computer literate (in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

*Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues.

*Ability to work individually and as part of a team. Must also be able to work effectively in a team environment.
