Technical Specialists – Liberia Conservation Works Activity (Liberia CWA)

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, VA, is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for the USAID-funded Liberia Conservation Works Activity (Liberia CWA).

 

Conservation Enterprise Specialist: The Conservation Enterprise Specialist will be responsible providing technical and managerial oversight in the development and implementation of strategies to establish and support sustainable enterprises that reduce threats to biodiversity and greenhouse gas emissions. This long-term position is based in Monrovia, Liberia.

 

Responsibilities:

* Develop, implement, and provide technical and managerial oversight over Liberia CWA’s activities supporting conservation enterprises;

* Develop project activities that support an enterprise-enabling environment, including by working with financial service providers and business development service providers;

* Design and implement conservation enterprise analyses, toolkits, guides and other resources;

* Act as a subject matter expert relating to conservation enterprise development; development and networking; and business and entrepreneurship development;

* Contribute written input to program planning and reports;

* Coordinate with cross-cutting services – Communications, Institutional Strengthening and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team;

 

Governance Specialist: The Governance Specialist performs technical and managerial work within the Liberia CWA project with an emphasis on forest governance, organizational development and conflict management issues.  This long-term position is based in Monrovia, Liberia.

 

Responsibilities:

* Design and implement forest governance analyses, toolkits, guides and other resources

Develops and delivers organizational development and governance training activities to relevant stakeholders;

* Provides one-on-one coaching to Field Staffs, Targeted CBOs, forest governance leaders and emerging leaders to support effective management and leadership development;

* Provides analytical and technical input in various fora on legal framework and policy issues related to forest governance, including the development and refinement of policies and procedures, rules and regulations;

* Provides training support to community-based organizations;

* In collaboration with the training coordinator, reviews and revises training manual content relative to forest governance, conflict management, and land management;

* Contribute written input to program planning and reports;

* Supports the development of presentations and other media activity related to forest governance and property rights;

* Coordinate with cross-cutting services – Communications, Institutional Strengthening and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to develop and implement governance-related activities;

* Build capacity among staff, partners and other stakeholders around forest governance.

 

Media Specialist: The Media Specialist will work closely with technical leads and the cross-cutting team to design and lead the implementation of the communication and outreach strategy. This long-term position is based in Monrovia, Liberia.

 

Responsibilities:

* Develop and lead detailed work plan for implementation of the Liberia CWA communication and Outreach Strategy;

* Work with Liberia CWA staff and partners to develop content and messages for website and other media;

* Provide training to field staff on the use of media for message delivery;

* Analyze and compile lessons learned as the basis for creating communications messages;

* Identify advocacy strategies and develop appropriate mediums for advocacy messages;

* Develop media campaigns;

* Support Liberia CWA grantees to develop appropriate outreach messages for communities and other forestry stakeholders

 

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical area;

* At least five (5) years of experience related to the technical area, preferably in Liberian context;

* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including private sector; financial institutions; government officials; project staff and/or donor agencies;

* USAID experience preferred;

* Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
