Energy Sector Experts - USAID Urja Nepal

Tetra Tech’s International Development Services, based in Arlington, VA, is recruiting for a variety of energy sector experts based in Nepal to support the implementation of USAID’s Urja Nepal Activity. The experts will implement technical activities with the project management team based in Kathmandu. These positions may be part-time or full-time and are contingent upon contract award.

 

The successful candidates should have leadership and mid- to senior-level technical experience in one or more the following areas:

  • Distributed energy specialists
  • Distribution engineers
  • Energy economists
  • Energy policy specialists
  • Energy procurement systems
  • Energy resource diversification specialist
  • Finance and tariff specialists
  • IT platform/software development specialists
  • Legal and regulatory specialists
  • Market competition promotion (energy-specific)
  • Modern energy technology specialists (design, adoption, integration and scale-up)
  • Modern gas system specialists
  • Natural gas infrastructure specialist
  • Power engineers
  • Power sector planning specialists (policies and tools)
  • Private sector engagement specialist
  • Regional trade specialists (electricity, clean coal, and gas)
  • Renewable energy engineers
  • Transmission and distribution system operators
  • Utility improvement and transformation specialists

 

Essential KSA’s required (experience, skills, education, certification, etc.):

  • An undergraduate degree in engineering, physics or similar technical field.
  • A Master’s degree in economics, energy, engineering, finance, management, policy, legal, and/or other related fields.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience supporting or leading energy sector projects, with demonstrable experience in the electricity sector.
  • Experience supporting USAID or other donor-funded energy projects in South Asia required.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with peers, supervisors, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the political, social and cultural context of working in Nepal is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing and presentation skills) is required.

Valued but not required KSA’s:

  • Fluency in Nepali is a plus.

Line management responsibility:

  • N/A

Physical demands & work environment:

  • Office setting.
  • Regional travel will be required.
