Chief of Party- Tanzania Tuhifadhi Maliasili Activity

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, VA  is seeking to hire a qualified Chief of Party to lead all technical and administrative aspects of an anticipated 5-year USAID-funded biodiversity conservation initiative. The purpose of the activity is to support and strengthen capacity in Tanzania for biodiversity conservation in a manner that i) increases private sector engagement in conservation and NRM; ii) builds the capacity of public sector and civil society; iii) improves the enabling environment; and iv) enhances knowledge management across sectors.  Activity interventions together will reduce threats to biodiversity in Tanzania while moving Tanzanian institutions further on their journey to self-reliance.

 

Qualifications:

*Minimum of 7 years in a director-level role leading and managing complex development programs and multi-disciplinary teams in the Africa Region, preferably as a Chief of Party for a USAID-funded project.

*Not less than 10 years’ project experience working in one or more technical disciplines: biodiversity conservation, forestry, natural resources management, environmental policy/law, conservation finance, sustainable livelihoods, land-use planning, and/or other relevant technical areas.

*Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary development programs and teams, engaging effectively with stakeholders, fostering collaborative learning and adaptive management, and understanding and addressing the needs of the most vulnerable.

*Excellent communication skills in English.

*Strong familiarity with the policy, social, economic, environmental, and cultural context in Tanzania desired.

*Minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is required.
