Deputy Chief of Party – Serbia New Agribusiness Competitiveness Project (NACP)

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia in the United States is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Chief of Party (COP) position on an anticipated U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded project in Serbia. The goal of this project is to address the major obstacles facing Serbia’s food-processing industry by improving established market system models, replicating them into new value chains, and by developing and applying new models.

 

Tetra Tech anticipates using a market systems approach to improve private sector performance and competitiveness in key domestic and export sectors and promote greater integration with European and global markets, thus generating private sector employment in Serbia.

 

Position Description: Working under the overall direction of the Chief of Party (COP) and in coordination with project technical staff and external partners, the DCOP will ensure the timely and effective delivery of project activities and results. The DCOP will provide technical leadership for one or more project components, support the COP in project management and donor relations, and serve as the technical and program point of contact in the absence of the COP. This is anticipated to be a full-time position based in Belgrade, Serbia.

 

Qualifications:

 

*Master’s degree or higher in agriculture, agribusiness, economics, business development, food processing, or another relevant field;

*Minimum of eight (8) years of demonstrated experience in the successful implementation of economic development activities, especially business development, trade, and export promotion activities in the agriculture and food processing sectors, under a U.S. Government instrument, especially USAID;

*At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in project management for USAID or other donor-funded development projects;

*Experience working in Serbia or the Western Balkans region in support of the agriculture and food processing sectors;

*Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage in multi-stakeholder dialogue with a diverse range of stakeholders across government, academic, civil society, and local resource users; *Proven experience navigating complex and high-pressure operating environments;

*Professional proficiency in Serbian and English is required;

*Prior experience living and working in Serbia and/or any other countries in the Western Balkans (preferred);
