Energy Sector Experts - Vietnam

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, VA is seeking candidates for a variety of energy sector positions to be based in Vietnam.The specialists will implement technical activities, coordinate with the client and local stakeholders, and work closely with the program management team based in Hanoi. The positions may be part time or full time and are contingent upon contract award.
The successful candidates should have leadership and mid- to senior-level technical expertise as one or more of the following:
TRANSMISSION & DISTRIBUTION
- Power system planning and operation engineers
- Distribution system planning and operation engineers
- Energy efficiency experts
- Utility improvement and transformation experts
- Smart grid infrastructure specialists
LEGAL & REGULATORY
- Legal and regulatory specialists
- Power sector policy specialists
NATURAL GAS
- Natural gas system planning specialists
- Natural gas infrastructure specialists
ECONOMICS & FINANCIAL
- Energy technology specialists (design, adoption, integration and scale-up)
- Energy economists
- Wholesale and retail electricity tariff experts
- Project finance experts
RENEWABLE ENERGY
- Power engineers
- Renewable energy engineers
- Energy storage experts
ELECTRICITY MARKETS
- Regional electricity markets experts
- Regional trade specialists (clean coal and gas)
- Private sector engagement specialists
CROSS CUTTING
- Gender expert
- Community engagement expert
- Energy monitoring and evaluation specialist
Essential KSA’s required:
- An undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, physics or similar technical fields.
- A master’s degree in economics, energy, engineering, finance, management, policy, legal, or other related fields.
- Minimum 8+ years of demonstrable working experience supporting or leading energy sector projects in developing countries.
- Experience supporting USAID or other donor-funded energy projects in Southeast Asia.
- Ability to work with a variety of clients and stakeholders and to build effective relationships with them.
- Familiarity with the political, social and cultural context of working in Southeast Asia.
- Strong technical, organizational and teamwork skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English (reading, writing and presentation skills) is required.
Valued but not required KSA’s:
- Fluency in Vietnamese is a plus.
Physical demands & work environment:
- Office and field setting, frequent domestic travel.
