Legal Reform Technical Advisor

 

 

Tetra Tech International Development Services headquartered in Arlington, VA is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for potential Legal Reform Technical Advisor positions on a U.S. Department of State-funded project in Myanmar.

 

The purpose of this project is to strengthen democratic processes and human rights in Myanmar by supporting constitutional and legislative reform, working closely with local civil society actors to undertake research, analysis, and advocacy. This is a long-term position and the project will be based in Yangon. Myanmar nationals are strongly preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

* Lead legislative analysis and dialogue on constitutional reform.

* Coordinate trainings, networking activities, advocacy campaigns, and other technical activities.

* Assess needs and provide tailored technical support to local civil society and media organizations.

* Help strengthen engagement between civil society and key government agencies.

Ensure synergies across activities.

 

Qualifications:

* University degree in law, political sciences, public/policy administration, international relations or similar; a law degree is an advantage.

* At least 5 years of relevant experience in donor-funded programs focused on human rights, good governance, legal reform and/or advocacy.

* Experience in one or more of the following areas: legislative analysis, constitutional reform, federalism, human rights, ethnic and religious minority rights and access to citizenship, social accountability, media freedom.

* Experience in training, advocacy, and/or work group facilitation.

* Experience building capacity of CSOs and CSO networks preferred.

* Working knowledge of English.

* Myanmar nationals strongly encouraged to apply.
