Landscape Ecologist – Forest for Water and Prosperity (Forest-PLUS 2.0).

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, VA is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified Landscape Ecologist candidates for the Forest for Water and Prosperity (Forest-PLUS 2.0) program.

 

Forest-PLUS 2.0 is a USAID program implemented by Tetra Tech in India. The goal of the USAID Forest-PLUS 2.0 project is to improve management of targeted forest landscapes in India for enhanced ecosystem services and increased inclusive economic opportunities.

 

The Landscape Ecologist will lead the integration of ecosystem services into the management of forest landscapes. S/he will manage a team of experts to conduct quantification and valuation of selected key ecosystem services provided by forests. The Landscape Ecologist will advise the Indian state forest departments on the incorporation of ecosystem services and values into the management planning process. S/he will also work with Indian state forest departments and other Indian agencies to develop incentive mechanisms for managing landscapes to provide ecosystem services. The main project office will be in New Delhi and the project is scheduled for three years with the potential for two additional years. 

 

Qualifications

* Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in forestry, forest ecology, biodiversity conservation, or related field.

* At least eight (8) years of experience in forestry and natural resource management with a focus on ecosystem services.

* Proven experience working on ecosystem services and incentive mechanisms for managing landscapes.

* Ability to manage a diverse team of technical and management experts and to interface with various stakeholders including government, NGOs, donors, and beneficiaries.
