Deputy Chief of Party, Field Operations – Vietnam Sustainable Forest Management Activity

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, VA, is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for an anticipated Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) position on a USAID-funded sustainable forest management program based in Hanoi.

 

The purpose of the activity is to reduce emissions from deforestation and degradation of natural forests and improve poor plantation practices. The activity will focus on reducing land-based emissions and increasing carbon sequestration in Vietnam’s natural production forests and plantation productions forests. The team will collaborate and engage with national government, local partners and communities, and the private sector in the effective management, protection and governance of the drivers of forest conversion and degradation in target areas.

 

Position Description/Summary: Working under the overall direction of the Chief of Party (COP) and in coordination with project technical staff and external partners, the DCOP will oversee operations within the project’s provincial offices; assist in the preparation of work plans, budgets, and procurement plans for the provincial offices; and oversee provincial office startup and will closely coordinate and collaborate with provincial office-level administrative, financial, and contract staff during implementation.

Qualifications:

*8+ years of experience managing field operations for complex donor-funded projects, including personnel management, and GVN and stakeholder engagement;

*5+ years working experience in a senior supervisory role related to administrative operations, financial management, human resources, and procurement, with experience on USAID contracts of similar size and scope strongly preferred;

*Experience in natural resource management, community forest management, plantation productivity, climate change mitigation, or other relevant technical disciples;

*Strong existing relationships with public and private sector networks;

*Master’s, or a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience, in business administration, finance, accounting, or another relevant discipline;

*Excellent communication skills in English.
