Staff Associate

Tetra Tech International Development Services (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) headquartered Arlington, VA is accepting applications from qualified candidates for a Staff Associate, who will serve as a Deputy Project Manager for our overseas projects. This is a unique opportunity for an international development professional who is eager to gain knowledge across our main sectors.

 

Tetra Tech’s International Development Services (IDS) unit provides scientific, sustainable, and industry-leading solutions to tackle the world’s most complex challenges. Service areas include: agriculture and economic growth (AEG), environment and natural resources (ENR), democracy and governance (DG), land tenure and property rights (LTPR), and water resources and infrastructure (WRI). Tetra Tech creates practical, environmentally responsible solutions for federal agencies, governments, multilateral banks, and multilateral corporations worldwide.

 

This position is based in Burlington, Vermont.

 

What you’ll be doing:

* Participate in communications with the client

* Work on all aspects of a project, from start-up through close-out

* Help to ensure contract compliance in accordance with client and Tetra Tech ARD requirements

* Work with project team to create and manage project budget

* Assist with building capacity of field office staff, as appropriate

* Assist with monitoring project timeline and contract requirements to ensure that all contract deliverables are met on schedule within contract ceiling

* Support recruitment and fielding of short-term and long-term consultants or employees

 

 

Our ideal candidate has the following:

* Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.

* At least three years of professional experience in an operations role preferred

* One to three years of relevant experience in a developing country is preferred. Service in volunteer programs such as the Peace Corps may be considered as relevant experience.

* Knowledge of international donor projects and/or USAID-funded projects highly desired

* Excellent verbal and writing skills required

* Must be an energetic and collaborative team member and leader

* Very strong cross-cultural relations and interpersonal communication skills required

* High level proficiency in MS Office applications

* Deadline-oriented and ability to work under pressure with poise and professionalism

* Speaking and reading proficiency in at least one foreign language is preferred

* Availability for 30–40% international travel

* U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is a requirement
