Senior Communications Specialist - Power Central Asia (PCA) Activity

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, VA, is recruiting for a Senior Communications Specialist to be mobilized to Central Asia to support the implementation of USAID’s Power Central Asia (PCA) Activity. The position is full-time and is contingent upon contract award. The Senior Communications Specialist will report to the Chief of Party.

 

Position responsibilities:

  • Manage all communications related outputs to ensure that they are delivered on time, with high quality and maximum impact.
  • Edit technical deliverables (e.g., reports, briefings, etc.) for clarity, messaging, and adherence to USAID branding and style guidelines.
  • Design, write and edit a variety of communication products (e.g., activity summaries and outreach materials, including fact sheets, infographics, newsletters, one-page syntheses of activity interventions, activity briefers and visuals, etc...).
  • Develop written communications, presentations, and social media materials on regional energy issues and topics for diverse audiences, including USAID, U.S. Government and partner government stakeholders, and internal staff.
  • Design and implement communication support at events, including preparation of press releases, announcements, social media posts, and organize for photography and videography as required.
  • Partner with other departments to accomplish project communication objectives.
  • Develop project-specific website input and social media posts, including writing and posting content, monitoring activity and followers’ engagement, and report on impact.
  • Coordinate and implement all external outreach and activities with the client and stakeholders in consultation with the client and USAID DOC.
  • Field and respond to incoming requests for information, talking points, messaging, etc., from project staff, the client, and counterparts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Essential KSA’s required (experience, skills, education, certification, etc.):

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree preferably in communications, journalism, media and/or related field.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in leading communications programs for international development projects including strategy and product development.
  • Senior level knowledge and experience with the energy sector and energy programs is preferred.
  • Experience working in Central Asia or South Asia is preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience leading communications activities for international development programs is required.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience with expert-level understanding of USAID communications protocols and experience working in coordination with USAID’s Development Outreach Communications (DOC) Specialist is preferred.
  • Native fluency in English is required with strong oral and written presentation skills.

Valued but not required KSA’s:

  • Fluency in any Central Asian native language, as well as Russian, is a plus.

Line management responsibility:

  • Local communications specialist.

Physical demands & work environment:

  • Office setting
