Gender Specialist - Land Governance Activity (LGA)

 

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, VA, is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for Gender Specialist position on a 5-year USAID-funded Land Governance project in Ethiopia.

 

The Activity’s overall objective is to assist the Government of Ethiopia, its regions and citizens, in strengthening land governance, increasing incomes, reducing conflict and supporting well planned urbanization, thereby contributing to the country’s transformation plan.

 

The Gender Specialist will report to the Deputy Chief of Party.        

The gender Specialist will serve as the expert professional and technical advisor responsible for leading and monitoring the integration of gender, youth and vulnerable populations concerns in the LGA programs. S/he will also provide analytical and programmatic guidance to project team to promote an equitable impact of all LGA undertakings. S/he will also assume a lead role in articulating and advocating the strategic importance of gender issues and promoting these concepts within the targeted regions.

 

Qualifications:

* A graduate degree in International Development or related field required.

* Minimum of 7 years of experience in international development operations.

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in gender mainstreaming and integration, preferably in the context of Land Governance.

* Experience working in Ethiopia strongly preferred.

* Experience working with USAID and other large international donors

* Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing, in English and Amharic

* Experience holding public meetings and coordinating with local governments, legal  experts, development actors, the public, and special interest groups to formulate and develop plans for vulnerable populations.
