Communications Advisor, Promote Women’s Leadership Development, Afghanistan.

Tetra Tech International Development Services, headquartered in Arlington, VA is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified Communications Advisor candidates for a USAID-Funded project in Afghanistan. The qualified candidate will support the delivery of a gender focused project whose aim is to provide 25,000 women with leadership training to give them the skills necessary not only to perform in their jobs, but also to rise to meaningful leadership positions in their careers.

 

Responsibilities:

*Manage all facets of WLD’s external communications with key stakeholders – this includes media outreach, external content generation, website updates, and coordination of communications relating to all WLD events and press worthy stories

*Spearhead dissemination of outreach and recruitment packages through the web, social media campaigns, and hard copy dissemination at different locations including universities and other venues to be determined by WLD.

*On an ongoing basis, assist with communication document production and editing, draft press releases, success stories, monthly project highlights, assist with writing, editing, design and production of key WLD documents (weekly, quarterly and annual reports, technical reports and other Project products as required)

*Liaise with USAID and, in particular, the USAID Document, Outreach & Communication (DOC) office in Kabul as needed

*Support the development of SOWs for the procurement (where appropriate) of media services (e.g. radio, television time to disseminate Project-related activities)

 

 

Supervision

The Communications Advisor will work in collaboration with WLD’s Kabul-based communications team, and under the supervision of WLD’s Chief of Party (or her designee).

 

Qualifications:

 

*Masters (or foreign equivalent) in communications, or similar field preferred.

*Minimum of 5 years of communication and management experience in an equivalent position.

*Experience working with USG, NGO or international organizations are preferred.

*Knowledge and experience with USAID branding and marking strategy.

*Experience in developing Statement of Work (SOW) and estimates is highly desirable.

*Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender.

*Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS) software including Excel, Word, Power Point, SharePoint, and Outlook.

*Ability to generate documents in MS Word and other communications related platforms.

*Excellent language proficiency in spoken and written in English.

*Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.

*Honest, dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, and willing to work in a team environment.

*Ability to live and work in Kabul, Afghanistan.
