Energy Systems Expert

Tetra Tech International Development Services headquartered in Arlington, VA is recruiting for an Energy Systems Expert in our Bangkok, Thailand office. The successful candidate will lead the growth and management of strengthening energy systems, responding to country-specific circumstances, and market barriers. This position is contingent upon an awarded contract.

 

Responsibilities include:

·         Coordinate with other project implementers and stakeholders, including other U.S. government agencies and donors

·         Identify and develop a pipeline of priority projects

·         Provide transaction advisory services and capacity building

·         Link project developers and investors with national and regional financing networks

·         Assist with adoption of appropriate technologies, operational practices, and policy frameworks needed to meet growing energy demand at the lowest cost, while concurrently maintaining reliability, enhancing resilience, and minimizing environmental impact

·         Advise on ways to strengthen energy systems through bilateral implementation that corresponds to country-specific circumstances and market barriers

·         Provide mechanisms to achieve effective least-cost/risk-based planning, and accelerated development and integration of emerging technologies such as distributed energy (e.g., solar, battery storage), electric vehicles, modern gas systems, and energy efficiency will be prioritized.

·         Help identify and address key technical, policy/regulatory and institutional capacity constraints, to support enabling environments that attract private investments for modernizing energy systems, increase access to modern energy services in unserved areas and incentivize energy consumer behavior change

·         Monitor energy consumption, determine systems scheduling for optimal efficiency and cost.

·         Perform data mining and detailed energy analysis to identify opportunities for energy conservation

·         Provide technical leadership and supervision of staff and consultants

·         Provide quality control support and ensure timely delivery of outputs

·         Prepare work plans, progress reports, financial reports, logistics, and other documents

 

 Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in energy-related engineering, policy, business, finance, economics, or a related field required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the power sector
  • Experience working in South East Asia and/or the South East Asian energy sector and understanding of key issues and stakeholders involved in energy project development.
  • Extensive Knowledge of Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Building Automation Systems; Experience with industry EMS tools such as TacVista EMS, AMAG, and Tridium is desirable
  • Experience with international donors
  • English fluency is required
