Tetra Tech International Development Services is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Operations Manager position on a USAID funded program in Afghanistan.
The overall objective of this program is to provide direct engineering expertise and quality assurance on a variety of engineering projects for our client.
Responsibilities:
* Maintains a full time site management staff to operate and maintain site facilities, including living accommodations, office and warehouse facilities, and cleaning and laundry service;
* Under limited supervision, performs operations job functions as assigned by management, including planning and coordinating personnel, supplies/assets, and equipment. Operations must be conducted in a manner that is safe, cost effective, and fully compliant with project procedures and all contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements;
* Plans, schedules, and organizes the work to ensure utilization of employees and compliance with all contract requirements, quality standards, and budgetary guidelines;
* Ensures staffing levels of supervised personnel are maintained in a manner which allows the effective execution of facilities maintenance;
* Instructs employees on the work methods and performance expectations, and communicates issues and requirements with project management.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
* Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience;
* Experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred;
* Experience managing large teams of operations/maintenance employees in conflict zones required;
* Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders;
* Ability to manage conflict resolution and employee relationships;
* Working knowledge of English, both written and spoken. Able to communicate fluently effectively both verbally and in writing;
* Willingness to relocate to Afghanistan for a 12-month assignment, with potential for an extended assignment depending upon performance.
