Municipal Water & Sanitation Finance Research Internship

Tetra Tech ARD is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for a Municipal Water & Sanitation Finance Research Intern with the WASH-FIN program.

 

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Finance (WASH-FIN) is a 5-year, global USAID funded technical assistance program focused on mobilizing public and private investments in urban water supply and sanitation projects in Asia and Africa. The intern will support WASH-FIN’s work, and will be responsible for producing a report analyzing existing municipal infrastructure financing mechanisms for WASH in the global south. The intern will have the opportunity to conduct international research on WASH-FIN themes, participate in stakeholder meetings, present findings, and gain experience working on USAID-funded projects.

 

This position will be based in Tetra Tech ARD’s satellite office in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia.

 

The internship is paid and requires 40 hours per week for a duration of approximately 6 weeks. Additional level of effort may be considered based on project need and candidate performance. The intern will be expected to start no later than the end of May 2018.

Responsibilities:

* Independently conduct research on municipal infrastructure finance in WASH in the global south

* Develop professional-quality report and deliver presentation on final draft

* Write guest blog posts for USAID Global Waters and other outlets as requested

* Support Senior Infrastructure Finance Advisor on South Africa -related work

 

Qualifications:

* Recently completed or in-progress Master’s degree in international development, international relations, economics, finance, urban planning, natural resource management, water resources management, or a related field;

* Demonstrated understanding of financial concepts and/or water & sanitation services delivery in emerging markets, and desire to pursue a career in water infrastructure financing, international development, or natural resource management;

* Prior work experience on international projects with a preference for experience in infrastructure/municipal finance, urban service delivery, capital markets, climate change, or related WASH-FIN thematic areas in emerging market geographies;

* Clear and effective writing and communication skills;

* Ability to work both independently and within a small multicultural team spread across multiple time zones;

* Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and sense of humor;

* Proficiency in French is desired but not required
