Water & Sanitation Infrastructure Finance Internship

Tetra Tech ARD is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for a Water & Sanitation Infrastructure Finance Intern with the WASH-FIN program.

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Finance (WASH-FIN) is a 5-year, global USAID funded technical assistance program focused on mobilizing public and private investments in urban water supply and sanitation projects in Asia and Africa to bridge the finance gap. The intern will support WASH-FIN’s global work, and will assist the Senior Infrastructure Finance Advisor with facilitating a range of water-related financial transactions in South Africa, Kenya, Senegal, Cambodia, and India. The intern will have the opportunity to work with or on behalf of a range of stakeholders including USAID and other development agencies, development finance and private sector financing institutions, governments, water utilities and small businesses focused on water and sanitation service delivery.

This position will be based in Tetra Tech ARD’s satellite office in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia.

The internship is paid and requires 30-40 hours per week for a duration of approximately 3 months - possibility of extension. The intern will be expected to start no later than the end of May 2018.

Responsibilities:

* Support Senior Infrastructure Finance Advisor on financial transactions in the water and sanitation sectors

* Review work and provide oversight on USAID/WASH-FIN sub-contractor work in Africa and Asia

* Backstop country-level teams as needed

* Conduct research and analysis on infrastructure finance or emerging markets to assist the WASH-FIN team, as needed

Qualifications:

* Recently completed or in-progress MBA or Master’s degree in international development, international relations, urban planning, economics, or finance;

* Demonstrated understanding of financial concepts and emerging markets;

* Interest in water services provision, and desire to pursue a career in water financing, international development, urban planning, or natural resource management;

* Prior work experience on international projects with a preference for experience in infrastructure finance, urban service delivery, capital markets, climate change, or related WASH-FIN thematic areas in emerging market geographies;

* Clear and effective writing and communication skills;

* Ability to work both independently and within a small multicultural team spread across multiple time zones;

* Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and sense of humor;

* Proficiency in French is desired but not required
