Chief of Party – Wildlife Trade New Program Coordination, South Africa

Tetra Tech ARD (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified Chief of Party candidates for the anticipated 5-year USAID/Southern Africa Wildlife Trade New Program Coordination in South Africa. A key aspect of this project will focus on learning and knowledge sharing including developing, capturing and sharing CWC strategies, approaches and proven best practices across landscapes and throughout the region.

 

The COP will be responsible for leading the technical, financial and administrative aspects of the program and work closely with USAID and partners to collaborate effectively throughout the life of the project. The COP will be the principal link between USAID, Tetra Tech ARD, and other partners to provide strategic and technical guidance.  

 

Responsibilities:

* Provide leadership and technical direction for the project and expatriate and local teams;

* Manage the project’s implementation, including overall responsibility for personnel and efficient budgeting and financial management;

* Oversee technical activities of the project and ensure that impact is achieving the results defined in the contract;

* Develop strategic objectives and confirm project compliance with USAID regulations;

Qualifications:

* Advanced degree in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, or other relevant discipline in relation to the areas of the program;

* Minimum 5 years of managing multi-disciplinary development programs and teams, engaging with stakeholders, and fostering collaborating learning and adaptive management;

* Minimum 10 years of professional experience in designing and implementing similar programming related to wildlife conservation, natural resource management and policy development, law enforcement, and/or institutional capacity development;
* Prior USAID or other major-donor funded project experience. Previous Chief of Party or Deputy Chief of Party experience is preferred;

* Experience in the South African Region is preferred.
