Chief of Party, Value Chains Forward, Afghanistan

Tetra Tech, is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified administrative and technical candidates for an anticipated USAID-funded project focusing on value chain development in Afghanistan.

The goal of the Value Chains Forward activity is to strengthen the private sector’s capacity to effectively link Afghan producers to domestic and international markets, and to grow the agriculture sector through interventions at all levels of livestock and high value crop (HVC) value chains-- a process which will naturally be led by the private sector.

The qualified candidate will support delivery of market-driven extension training, business development services, financing and marketing assistance for livestock and high value crop (HVC) value chains.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing overall management of the project, including liaising and coordinating with USAID and Tetra Tech’s home office;
  • Ensuring quality oversight of all services and products provided by the project, including those from long-term and short-term staff and subcontractors; and
  • Coordinating and assuming the role of official spokesperson of project activities with senior Mission, Embassy, Congressional delegations/other VIPs and GIRoA officials.

Desired Qualifications:

·         A Master's degree in a related field of expertise preferred;

·         A minimum of 10 years of work experience in international development programming;

·         Demonstrated management experience including prior experience working on agriculture/agribusiness development projects funded by USAID or by other major donors;

·         Experience in high value crop (HVC) value chains, specifically livestock or horticulture and staple crops preferred;

·         Extensive experience monitoring and evaluating development assistance and economic growth programs in complex, culturally diverse settings;

·         Excellent English language reporting, writing, and presentation skills required;

·         Knowledge of relevant federal regulations and procedures as well as work experience in post-conflict countries required;

·         Previous experience as a COP is highly desirable; and

·         Fluency in English is required.

To be considered applicants must submit the following as part of the on-line process:

* Cover Letter

* CV in reverse chronological format

* A list of at least 3 professional references including name, contact information, and statement of relationship to the reference.

Applications that do not meet the minimum requirements listed above will not be considered. Please ensure that all necessary documents are uploaded, as incomplete applications and/or corrupt files may delay processing of your application or remove you from consideration. No phone calls will be accepted.
