Health, Safety, & Environmental Specialist

Tetra Tech GLS, headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts (http:www.tetratechintdev.com/) is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified Health, Safety, & Environmental Specialist candidates for a USAID-funded Engineering Services Project in Afghanistan. The overall objective of this program in Afghanistan is to provide direct engineering expertise on a variety of engineering projects for our client. The anticipated duration of this project is twelve (12) months with potential for an extended assignment depending upon performance..



The overall objective of this program in Afghanistan is to provide direct engineering expertise on a variety of engineering projects for our client.



Responsibilities:

* Administers Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs;

* Schedules, tracks, and conducts HSE training;

* Conducts routine safety and environmental inspections;

* Provides engineering support for plant safety systems (fire protection, electrical, and air ventilation systems);

* Coordinates Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness Program including periodical evacuation drills;

* Coordinates and manages first responders, first aid room, and safety supplies;

* Coordinates Ergonomic Analysis and Improvement Program;

* Maintains compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and laws (OSHA, DHEC, Federal, State & Local Laws);

* Maintains safety records;

* Trains local staff as HSE inspectors.



Qualifications:

* Bachelors’ Degree in Safety Engineering or similar program;

* Basic knowledge of safety and fire safety related regulations; 

* Experience with EM 385-1-1;

* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a construction safety position;

* Demonstrates proficiency in communication with the ability to interact will all levels of employees;

* Proficient with Computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point);

* Willingness to accept a 12 month assignment in Afghanistan with potential for an extended assignment depending upon performance.
