Environmental Specialist

Tetra Tech GLS, headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts (http:www.tetratechintdev.com/) is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Environmental Specialist position on an Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded program in Afghanistan. 

 

The program will consist of an ADB-funded feasibility study and alignment recommendation for the reconstruction and renovation of an existing transportation corridor and tunnel in Afghanistan.

 

Responsibilities:

* Will prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) or an Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) as appropriate;

* Will prepare an Environmental Management Plan in accordance with the ADB's Safeguard Policy Statement (2009). The EIA will contain mostly primary data about sensitive environmental aspects of the project. The EIA will include a description of the project, baseline environment, impact assessment and mitigation, alternatives, public consultations and grievance redress mechanisms, and environmental management and monitoring plans for pre-construction, construction and operation stages.

 

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related required;

* At least 10 years of experience in environmental management, with a preferred focus on major infrastructure projects and feasibility studies;

* Must have experience in preparation of, or assisting in the preparation of, at least 5 environmental impact assessments, including environmental management plans, for infrastructure projects.

* Strong preference for experience in working with ADB guidelines on environmental impact assessments, monitoring, and management plans

* Strong preference for experience in Afghanistan on similar assignments

* Willingness to work within Afghanistan.
