Agriculture and Economic Growth Internship

Tetra Tech ARD, headquartered in Burlington, Vermont is accepting applications for a well-qualified Intern for our Agriculture and Economic Growth (AEG) Sector. The AEG Intern will learn more about and support program implementation and new business development, primarily for USAID-funded projects. This internship can help start a successful career in development, building skillsets, expanding networks, and providing real-world experience in this challenging but rewarding work. This position will be based in Tetra Tech ARD's home office in Burlington, Vermont.

 

This internship is paid and hours are flexible, between 24-40 per week: duration is at least three months. Application deadline is September 6, 2016, and the Internship will start Monday, September 26, 2016.

 

Responsibilities:

* Conduct research on different AEG frameworks, approaches, and the like used by other development donors (the World Bank, UN, Gates Foundation, etc.), and collaborate with sector staff to explore better integration and adoption of other frameworks into our work;

* In collaboration with the Communications team, help develop marketing materials (short videos, infographics, Twitter chats/G+ hangouts, Web Maps) for communicating program outcomes and results;

* Help develop capture plans and conduct desk research to support new business development efforts;

* Conduct research on ITC tools used by AEG industry leaders as well as their efficacy in the field;

* Support sector efforts to strengthen field-based knowledge management via cross-learning and collaboration between projects; and

* Assist Sector Director or sector staff with complementary and necessary duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

* Recently completed or in progress Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in agriculture, natural resource management or economic growth, or a relevant social science, or a related field required;

* At least 1 year of professional experience desired, including some work or volunteerism overseas;

* Demonstrated understanding of, academic excellence in, and desire to pursue a career in sustainable agriculture, community-based- or climate-smart agriculture or natural resource management, or a related field strongly preferred;

* Knowledge of international donor development projects, especially USAID-funded projects, highly desired;

* Outstanding interpersonal and intercultural communications skills critical;

* Project management experience desired;

* Speaking and reading proficiency in at least one foreign language highly desired (especially Spanish and/or French);

* Experience in MS Office Suite;

* Energetic and enthusiastic collaborative team player; and

* Ability to remain poised and focused in a fast-paced environment.
