Mid-Level Electrical Engineer

Tetra Tech GLS, headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts (http:www.tetratechintdev.com/) is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Infrastructure Project Manager position on a USAID funded engineering services project program in Afghanistan. The overall objective of this program is to provide direct engineering expertise and quality assurance on a variety of engineering projects for our client. The anticipated duration of this project is twelve (12) months with potential for an extended assignment depending upon performance.

Responsibilities:

* Work with another expatriate Electrical Lead engineer and a well-qualified team of local Electrical Engineers for the timely and accurate design of electrical systems for power transmission and distribution (T&D) projects,  vertical structures, and renewable energy systems from concept design and procurement support through construction;

* Work directly with USAID and Afghan Ministries to play a role in discussions about issues of national electrification and policies including both the production of power from renewable and non-renewable sources and the Afghan nation’s electrical transmission and distribution systems;

* Review electrical shop drawings and respond to subcontractors’ questions and requests for information relating to electrical and sustainable energy issues;  

* Coordinate specific reach back tasks with the US home office support staff as needed.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field;

* 3-10 years of previous experience with engineering design for power transmission and distribution infrastructure and building projects;

*Knowledge of international codes and standards;

*Previous overseas experience is desired. Experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred;

*Working knowledge of English, both written and spoken. Able to communicate fluently effectively both verbally and in writing;

*Willingness to relocate to relocate to Afghanistan for a 12-month assignment, with potential for an extended assignment depending upon performance.
