Deputy Project Manager

Tetra Tech GLS, headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Deputy Project Manager position on a USAID funded program in Ethiopia.  The anticipated duration of this project is one (1) year.

 

The USG’s Ethiopia Global Health Initiative strategy seeks to improve health systems in Ethiopia through integrated delivery of sustainable interventions. USAID is improving access to care through the construction of new and renovated health centers and a new National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) Center in Addis Ababa. Tetra Tech is USAID’s engineer construction oversight services under the Engineering Support and Construction Oversight (ESCO) project.

 

Tetra Tech seeks a highly motivated mid-level Deputy Project Manager for a one-year assignment in Ethiopia with possibility for extension. This position is anticipated to begin in July 2016.

 

Responsibilities:

*Support implementation of multiple construction oversight programs;

* Coordinate the review of contractor submittals, requests for information, and payment vouchers;

* Solve problems related to construction and design;

*Provide training and capacity building to Ethiopian staff and contractors;

*Manage and supervise staff including project engineers and team leaders including administrative approvals, hiring, and other activities;

* Review and draft project reports, deliverables, and other documents required for the client and program implementation.

* Support coordination of operations and administration for field staff working in remote locations

 

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, international development, or other relevant discipline

* At least 5 years of experience and previous experience on USAID projects;

* Experience with project management in developing countries;

* Experience managing local staff;

* Must have demonstrable communication, creative problem solving, and management skills;
