Strategic Communications and Marketing Specialist

Tetra Tech ARD is accepting applications for qualified Strategic Communications and Marketing Specialists to join the Communications team. The Strategic Communications and Marketing Specialist supports Tetra Tech ARD’s communications, technical, and senior management teams to market the company’s capabilities to key client audiences, highlight project-level successes and lessons learned, and strengthen the company’s position as a thought leader in broader global movements, such as climate change adaptation and integration of technology for development. The Communications and Marketing Specialist develops messages, content, and materials that demonstrate how Tetra Tech ARD’s work translates into broad global impacts.

 

The position is based in in Burlington, Vermont.

 

Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with sector staff in the Home Office and the field to develop strategic communications content and marketing products, including success stories, infographics, videos, podcasts, blogs and other commentary, photo stories, and other materials that market Tetra Tech ARD project successes and global impact;

* Mine Tetra Tech field experiences and distill, capture, package, and market content on a variety of digital platforms, including web and social media sites;

* Collaborate with Tetra Tech ARD senior management and sector leadership to develop a strategic outreach agenda to key clients, including USAID, that builds and fortifies critical relationships and demonstrates Tetra Tech ARD leadership across our five sectors;

* Identify strategic opportunities to position Tetra Tech as a thought leader in larger development or citizen movements, and create content that draws connections between Tetra Tech global programs and these movements;

* Monitor client websites and articulate and respond to trending issues;

* Identify potential speaking or thought leadership opportunities for technical staff, with an emphasis on exploring opportunities in non-traditional fora;

* Create learning systems and processes that are used by Tetra Tech ARD and other Tetra Tech operating units to bring success and impact stories from projects and across sectors into marketing and new business processes;

* Provide thought leadership and strategic planning based on USAID and industry trends and best practices; and

* Assist Director in complementary and germane tasks for the team among other tasks, as directed.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public affairs, political science, or public policy required; Master’s degree preferred, however communications experience will be weighted over education;

* At least seven years of experience developing and executing communications and/or marketing strategies, targeting policymaker, donor, and political audiences, in the development, public affairs, or political arena;

* Communication experience in the fields of international development, policy, public affairs, and politics, or a combination thereof, highly desirable;

* Experience working with NGOs, USAID, US State Department, US Congress, US Embassy or other political press shops preferred;

* Versed in global issues and development themes, including those related to Tetra Tech ARD sectors as well as international politics, policy, poverty, climate change, women’s rights, and/or human rights;

* Deadline oriented individual who can work independently or in fast-paced team environments; and

* U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is an absolute requirement.
