DEMOCRACY AND GOVERNANCE INTERNSHIP (AFGHANISTAN EMPHASIS)

Tetra Tech ARD, based in Burlington, Vermont is accepting applications for a Democracy and Governance (DG) Intern to support the DG Unit, with emphasis on Afghanistan project support. The DG Intern will support efforts to ensure Tetra Tech is developing, implementing and maintaining high quality performance in development projects, particularly in Afghanistan. Candidates should have educational backgrounds and skills that are foundational to Democratization and Governance, with the willingness to better understand the complexity of DG project implementation in a post-conflict area.

This paid summer position is 30-40 hours per week, and based in Burlington, Vermont.

 

Responsibilities

* Support project implementation teams via multiple critical functions including research, compliance monitoring,  

   database management, editing, and similar administrative responsibilities;

*  Shadow and support technical experts in planning and strategy meetings;

*  Assist in inputs for project reports as needed; and

*  Assume other complementary and necessary duties as assigned by the Intern Supervisor.

Qualifications
* Recently completed or pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a field related to one of the firm's practice areas or a relevant social science, with at least half of required credits in area of concentration earned at time of internship;

* Experience in database management;

* Speaking and reading proficiency in English required: strong proficiency in Pashto and/or Dari strongly preferred;

* Demonstrable interest/experience in international development, particularly in post-conflict areas;

* Must possess effective time management skills and the ability to multitask;

* Strong interpersonal communication skills;

* Must be an energetic and enthusiastic team player;

* High level proficiency in MS Office applications; and

* U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory.
