Tetra Tech is recruiting for a High Mountain Hydrology Specialist for an anticipated-USAID project in Latin America. This is a part-time position based either in Latin America (one of the following countries: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru) or Washington, DC with extensive travel. This position is contingent upon an awarded contract.
Responsibilities include:
*Serve as the lead scientific expert of high mountain hydrology, including projections for glacier melt and associated hydrology changes, on a multidisciplinary team of international and national specialists (Team).
*Support Latin American glaciology and water research centers perform a gap analysis, develop a research plan, and conduct research on glacier melt and associated climate adaptation policies and decisions.
*Conduct and/or participate in training and capacity building exercises related to high mountain hydrology
*Document and report on project activities and prepare position papers and technical review documents to assist in sharing project successes and lessons learned.
*Deliver detailed assessments for complex projects on time, and within budget.
Job Requirements :
*Minimum 10 years’ experience participating in large multi-disciplinary teams of international and national specialists in glacial melt is required.
*Ph.D. in relevant academic area is required.
*Experience working in Andes and/or in Latin America is strongly preferred.
*Experience working with both public and private sector clients, preparing reports and technical studies preferred.
*Strong analytical and project management skills are strongly preferred.
*Proficiency in Spanish is required.
*Proficiency with MS Office Suite is required.
