Assessment Team Leader, Fresco - WA BICC

TetraTech ARD and its consortium partners were awarded the USAID contract for the implementation of West Africa Biodiversity and Climate Change (WA BiCC) activities from May 2015 to May 2020. This Program is designed to strengthen the resiliency and sustainability of West African institutions, ecosystems, and communities.

 

To ensure effective and efficient implementation of the Fresco Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment (CCVA), WA BiCC is soliciting the services of an Assessment Team Leader. The aim of this assignment is to provide technical oversight, direction and mentorship to the organization that is being sub-contracted by WA BiCC to conduct the Fresco CCVA. The Assessment Team Leader will be expected to spend at least 70% of the contract time in the field- Fresco, Côte d’Ivoire, and 30% based at home.

 

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

·Provide technical and managerial leadership to the Fresco CCVA team regarding the design, implementation, analysis and documentation of the Fresco CCVA.

·Provide managerial oversight and technical guidance to the organization contracted to implement the research.

·Build the capacity of the research organization to finalize, interpret and apply the CCVA framework.

·Supervise the development and testing of methods and field tools that will ensure effective data collection for the four analytical component analyses

·Lead the development of a data/information management systems that allows for the integration and analysis of the four analytical components.

 

Contract duration –3 months

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements:

·A master’s degree in a relevant field, with a specialization in development of methodologies and strategies relevant to the design and implementation of analytical social-economic and environmentally focused field research;

·Academic experience in climate change adaptation and/or a PhD is preferred;

·Demonstrated expertise in leading the design, implementation and documentation of integrated multi-sectoral climate change vulnerability assessments;

·Familiarity with the use of analytical tools such as climate analysis modelling, remote sensing, GIS, SPSS, MATLAB is preferred;

·Demonstrated experience with defining climate change adaptation practices, options analysis and scenario planning is strongly preferred;

·Five or more years of progressively responsible work experience in managing and implementing coastal climate change adaptation or natural resource management programs;

·Fluent in spoken French and English, with excellent writing skills in both languages.
