Team Leader - Supporting Sustainable Artisinal Mining in Rwanda (SSAMIR) Program

Tetra Tech ARD, located in Burlington, Vermont is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified Team Leader candidates for the upcoming DFID funded Supporting Sustainable Artisanal Mining in Rwanda (SSAMIR) Program. The aim of the program will be to promote economically and environmentally sustainable growth of Rwanda’s mining sector by developing and supporting enabling environments for private sector investment and pilot new mining service aggregation centers. The anticipated duration of this program will be three years.

 

The Team Leader will provide technical, managerial and financial leadership to the project. This will be a full-time position based in Kigali, Rwanda.

 

Responsibilities:

* Provide technical, financial and management oversight to all project activities in order to assure achievement of results within budget and on schedule;

* Maintain close and cooperative relationships with DFID officials and Government of Rwanda counterparts;

* Guide technical and budget planning;

* Supervise project monitoring and evaluation;

* Develop and negotiate scopes of work with consultants and service providers; review staff and consultant performance;

* Prepare technical, financial and operational reports.

 

Qualifications:

* Minimum bachelor’s degree in geology, natural resource management, or a related field required; graduate degree preferred;

* Minimum 10 years’ experience successfully managing technical and operational teams in challenging contexts, preferably on DFID programs;

* Experience managing staff, subcontractors and consultants to achieve expected results;

* Experience in contract management, financial management, and project monitoring and evaluation;

* Demonstrated ability to adapt a strategy and work plan to changes in fast moving political economy;

* Outstanding communications and diplomatic skills with a proven capacity to work with high level government officials and a diverse group of stakeholders;

* Demonstrated technical capabilities in economic development and mining, preferably in the African context;

* Working knowledge of DFID’s approaches to private sector development, growth and political economy, and Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) preferred.;
