Chief of Party, Rwanda Hinga Weze Program

 Tetra Tech ARD, headquartered in Burlington, Vermont (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for the Chief of Party position on the USAID funded Feed the Future Rwanda Hinga Weze Program. The primary objective of the Hinga Weze program will be to sustainably increase smallholder farmers' income, improve the nutritional status of Rwandan women and children, and increase the resilience of agriculture and food systems to the changing climate. This objective will be attained through sustainable intensification of Rwandan smallholder farming systems, with specific emphasis on climate smart approaches to the agriculture production system. This program specifically focuses on farming systems, which emphasize maize beans, Irish potato and incorporation of nutrient-dense crops and/or livestock, and on the nutritional status of women and children under 5 years of age. This will be a 5 year program and will be based out of Kigali, Rwanda.

   

Responsibilities:

*Providing overall leadership, management and general technical direction of the entire program.

*Ensuring an integrated vision among different components and actors, with a focus on achieving results.

*Identifying issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner, and suggesting appropriate program adjustments.

*Acting as the key liaison between USAID/Rwanda and program counterparts, implementing partners and Government of Rwanda officials involved with the program.

 

Qualifications:

*Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical area such as agriculture, environmental and climate change, natural resource management, or rural and economic development. A Master’s degree in agricultural sciences, business administration, rural development, or agricultural economics is preferred.

*10 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of agribusiness, nutrition, climate change, policy making, or private sector development is highly desirable.

*Demonstrated experience in public-private partnerships, climate smart agricultural policy reform and facilitation in the Sub-Saharan Africa context, public-private dialogue, and institution coalition building in rural economies.

*Prior experience as Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, or Senior Technical Advisor for projects of similar complexity and financial size, with demonstrated experience managing a diverse team/s of professionals and with administrative, procurement, hiring, recruitment, financial and logistical aspects of project implementation.

*Experience working with international development agricultural research agencies, Governments of developing countries, the private sector, and ability to resolve sensitive and complicated work issues with senior level country counterparts, donor representatives, and senior-level staff.

*Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop and communicate a common vision to partners from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds as well as the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

*Demonstrated, excellent writing and oral presentation skills in English are required.

*Qualified Rwandan Nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
